A Reluctant Traveler Goes to China In-Person

What kind of traveler are you? Are you the hearty type, the kind that endures obstacles and faces challenges with good humor and grace?  Or are you one that inevitably grows homesick and a bit cranky?

Nancy Solak, a self-described reluctant traveler, falls into the latter category. In her newly released travel memoir, Welcome to Here: A Reluctant Traveler Goes to China, she visits China not because it was a lifelong dream of hers, but because of her son. She spent two weeks in China when he was a student there, then another week two years later when he got married. Once her son returned to the States and became a Chinese language teacher, she accompanied him and his Parker, Colorado, students as they participated in a foreign exchange program. That trip lasted five weeks.

Each chapter depicts the unabashed honesty of an American who tends to be "on the more nervous side."
