History of Oakland University In-Person

Dominique Daniel is an associate professor at Oakland University and author of the new book, Oakland University. The book includes many historic photographs and serves as a contribution to the celebration of Oakland University's 60th anniversary in 2017. Daniel will summarize the establishment of the university on the Meadow Brook Estate in the late 1950s and the growth of the campus, as well as its significance in this part of Oakland County. She'll highlight some stories from the book, and provide some "behind the scenes" explanation about how she selected photographs from the Oakland University archives' huge collections. She'll showcase some collections and services of Archives and Special Collections at Oakland University, especially the recent acquisition of the entire archive of the Oakland Press and other collections documenting the history of the area.

Librarian and archivist Dominique Daniel has worked with the OU Archives and University Communications and Marketing, using their rich collection of photographs and conveying their knowledge of the university's history.
