SUMMARY:Discovering "Discovery": Is the New Star Trek Still "Star Trek" for You?
DESCRIPTION:“Dr. Trek\,” author/interviewer/producer Larry Nemecek\,
beams in from Los Angeles for a fresh look at Star Trek’s return to the
small screen this year and how it stacks up to our patrons’ past favorite
versions. After 15 “cinematic TV” episodes\, Discovery has already been
renewed for a second season by CBS All Access\, and opinions are many. Did
today's serialized “chapter” format for episodes\, on a streaming
service\, deliver all the Star Trek elements of diversity\, aspiration\,
and futurism a large audience needed — or a new audience expected? Has
reaction been divided by age\, media preferences\, or other easy
boundaries? Larry will offer visuals\, and invite the audience to share
their opinions along with his. He’ll also have copies of his own Trekland
 books\, CDs\, and Portal47.net info afterward.
